Visa has moved stablecoin prefunding on Visa Direct out of pilots and into commercial deployment, with payments processor Inyo Global the first to bring it to market[1]. Eligible businesses on Inyo's platform can now prefund cross-border payouts through Visa Direct with USDC in near real time, rather than relying only on traditional funding windows[1].

From pilot to production

Visa introduced stablecoin prefunding and payout pilots through Visa Direct in 2025, and says they showed how stablecoins could support cross-border funding, liquidity management and global money movement[2]. The 15 October announcement moves those capabilities into everyday commercial operations[2].

"The next chapter for stablecoins is adoption," said Vira Platonova, Global Head of Visa Direct[1].

Why Inyo goes first

Inyo Global serves money transmitters, fintechs, banks and payment businesses[1]. Through a single connection, its platform handles user onboarding, fraud and compliance, payment acceptance, and domestic and international payouts across more than 180 countries, powered by Visa Direct[1].

Inyo has built the USDC option into that platform, and The Block reports it is available through Inyo's existing APIs[3]. Robson Dantas, Inyo's co-founder and chief product and technology officer, says it gives clients "a new way to fund their payouts, one that is available around the clock and runs through the same Inyo APIs they already use"[1].

The fine print

Visa says availability varies by eligibility and geography, and points businesses to their Visa representative for details[1]. It hasn't published which markets or clients qualify for the stablecoin option, and Inyo is the first and so far only enabler it has named[4]. Visa says it is working with clients and partners to bring stablecoin capabilities to more money movement use cases[1].

What it means for builders

Prefunding is the quiet constraint on payout products: money has to be in place before it can leave, and traditional funding windows follow banking hours. Being able to top up with USDC at any hour, through APIs a payment company already uses, is a practical reason for stablecoins to sit inside mainstream payment flows rather than beside them. If you build payouts for marketplaces, gig platforms or remittances, it's worth asking your processor whether this option is coming to you.
