RDUSD: an Anchorage-issued stablecoin aimed at Ghana–Asia trade payments

Hong Kong's RD Technologies is backing RDUSD, a US dollar stablecoin to be issued by Anchorage Digital Bank and deployed on HashKey's HSK Chain. It is exploring stablecoin-supported trade settlement between Ghana and Asia with Stanbic Bank Ghana and Transika, subject to regulatory sign-off.

Another dollar stablecoin is lining up behind a US bank charter. Hong Kong's RD Technologies says it will support RDUSD, a US dollar stablecoin that, under the companies' plans, will be issued by Anchorage Digital Bank N.A., pegged 1:1 to the dollar, subject to third-party audits and designed to fit the US GENIUS Act[1]. It will be deployed on HashKey's HSK Chain, an institutional Ethereum Layer 2[2].

The issuer is a federally chartered bank

Anchorage Digital Bank describes itself as the first federally chartered digital asset bank in the US[2]. Anchorage CEO Nathan McCauley said RD Technologies chose a federally chartered bank because dollars held at a US regulated institution are what cross-border payments and treasury teams trust, and that Anchorage handles issuance, reserves and custody while RD focuses on its customers and markets[1].

A trade corridor, not a trading pair

The pitch is real-economy payments between Africa and Asia. RD Technologies and Stanbic Bank Ghana will explore a bank-led settlement solution, supported by stablecoin technology, for legitimate business payments from Ghanaian companies to suppliers in Asia[1]. Technical validation and any controlled pilot will only proceed with the required regulatory no-objection[1].

RD Technologies is also working with Transika, a Ghana-based digital asset infrastructure provider, on a separate model that pairs Transika's local payment rails with RD's cross-border settlement, including an assessment of whether stablecoins suit it[1].

What HashKey plans to do with it

HashKey says HSK Chain hosts more than 200 projects and over US$300 million in on-chain real-world assets, including money market funds, ETFs and precious metals[2]. It plans to bring RDUSD into three platforms: its trading portal, to settle tokenized real-world asset trades; its trade finance platform, for 24/7 on-chain clearing and smart-contract delivery-versus-payment against tokenized trade documents such as electronic bills of lading; and its settlement platform, for enterprise payments, collections and cash pooling[2]. HashKey says the settlement work also leaves room for automated AI agent payments[2].

Why it matters

The GENIUS Act has made "who issues the dollars" a selling point, and Anchorage is pitching bank-chartered issuance as a service other brands can sit on top of. RDUSD tests that model in a corridor where slow, expensive dollar access is a real pain point for importers. The caveat is that everything here is still planned or exploratory: the Ghana pilots need regulators' sign-off, and RDUSD's deployment on HSK Chain is described as upcoming.
